Powertrains on the 2017 model include a 185-hp, 178-lb-ft of torque 2.4-liter I-4, a 245-hp, 260-lb-ft 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 found in the 2.0T model, and the 178-hp, 195-lb-ft 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4 found in the Sonata Eco model. As soon as we get more U.S.-spec info on the 2018 Sonata, we’ll update this space. A six-speed automatic powered the front wheels before the 2018 model, but a new eight-speed automatic will be paired with the 2.0-liter turbo-four engine option this year. The Sonata hybrid and plug-in hybrid will probably return to the lineup sporting a 154-hp 2.0-liter I-4 engine paired to a 51-hp and 67-hp electric motor, respectively.
The 2018 Hyundai Sonata features a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Hyundai’s Blue Link system is now able to communicate with Amazon Echo, allowing the owner to control the car from inside the house or wherever an Amazon device is located. Additionally, the Sonata now offers a second-row USB charge port and passengers have the ability to charge their smartphone on the available Qi wireless charging pad.
